Here we have the 2009 car show winner, Jas’s unique 5-door 206. Not only is Jas’s car unique in such a way that in the UK modified 5-door 206’s could almost be counted by hand, but it has also had a one of a kind makeover from Scotland’s premier tuner, Peugeot Ecosse.

This car started life as an almost bog standard five door 206 which to many would seem like a disadvantage, however Jas was not phased by this at all and has created a stunning example of a modified classic.
Jas’s first thought was to add sparkle into his metallic gold, which was going to be dressed with a virtual kit. The arrival of the new vision bodykit began to make Jas re-evaluate his plan. The back doors were to be flushed, bonnet de badged along with little details that started to make this project go further.

Diane at Ecosse explains that a few days before the car was about to get a full hit with its sparkles, Jas came in to seek reassurance on his colour choice. Even though colour’s had been previously discussed Jas witnessed the euro fruity colour’s that were rolling out Ecosse’s paint shop, and seen first hand how drawn he was to the pastel hues. After another few marathon talks with Tony and Diane a few chosen test cards were offered up. So canary yellow was the decision and the car looked amazing. However Jas was not content and the car now sports a cream and brown paint job to give it even more of a euro look.
The car sported a Esquiss Cayman roof spoiler, vision kit, a de-badged grille, flushed tailgate and Ecosse air suspension. For rims Jas chose the Boss XL300 chrome rims, which complimented the exterior nicely. Job done ! Think again.

In the summer of 2007 the car went back into Ecosse for a few minor touch ups and to get a sound system installed. Jas being Jas decided not to stop there and changed his mind again to embark on another mission, evolving the car even further, he was determined to build the best 5 door 206 and to get away from the stigma that surrounds 5 door cars. So the car spent the next 2 years in Ecosse as he raised the cash and developed ideas for his next incarnation. The spoiler was removed along with the roof aerial to give it a cleaner look. The Vision front bumper was also smoothed to flow with the lines of the car. There are a lot of subtle details on this car that can sometimes be over looked when you first look at the car. For instance the roof gutter is painted brown, the doors sills are painted brown, as is the centre pillar, the engine bay and underside of the bonnet are also finished in brown. These touches go unnoticed until you open the doors and engine bay. The front door handles at first glance may look standard but are in fact custom built to sit flush with the door, that’s what you call detail!
In the boot there is an Esquiss boom-box which house’s two 15” Blaupunkt subs and 3 Blaupunkt amplifiers, all powered through an Alpine headunit. This is colour coded to match the car.
However Jas didn’t want everything to be sublte and smooth, there are elements on the car that are what you could call “extreme.” The wheels which are RH ZW1’s are wide! To get these to fit the standard arches had to be rolled and pulled, a lot! Jas wanted the car to have a “stance” when it was parked. So to achieve this he went for 9” at the rear and 8” up front. So when the car is actually slammed the weight of the car actually sits on the rear tires! Another jaw dropping element that sets this car apart from any other on the scene today is the rear doors. The fact that this 206 sports suicide doors is something which I have never witnessed and dare I say, one of a kind ???
After many discussions with Diane about styling and finish, the car made its show debut in June last year. The results were almost instantaneous as Jas’s 206 deservingly won SMC’s car of the show in the July.
The car is constantly evolving and as I type the car is at Audio Advice in Glasgow getting some finishing touches in the run up to this years show. So Jas’s 206 is a shining example that sometimes 5-door’s are better than three.
